Adonia returns to the P&O fleet

The P&O Adonia left the P&O fleet in 2015 year and headed to Cuba on a new venture and was re named Fathom. The idea was to introduce volunteer tourism to cruising which involved helping communities in the Dominican Republic and Cuba. The would help build water filters and teach English to the locals.

P&O loyal customer will be very glad to hear that the smallest ship is coming back to Southampton in summer 2017. The ship only has a 710 passenger capacity and is adult only making it very popular.

The Adonia has 7 sister ships, all identical in structure and are scatted over the Carnival fleet.

I sailed on 1 of them to Iceland and Norway a few year ago. The Azamara Journey was a beautiful ship offering 5* service and an excellent itinerary.

Then last year I visited the Oceania Nautica whilst she was in Liverpool, again beautiful ship. As I was walking round I got a ‘deja vous’ feeling! I asked the Oceania rep. The guest services area and the main dining area with a bar just outside was identical to the Azamara Journey because they are sister ships!

A company called Renaissance cruises sold the 7 ships to Carnival corp after they ceased business. Azamara, Oceania and Princess cruise all have 2 of the sister ships within their fleet.

The Adonia will have a face lift before returning to Southampton. There will be a new restaurant and an outdoor cinema on the top deck! Fresh new furnishings too.

Itineraries will focus on the Mediterranean, Europe and Caribbean. Details and on sale dates will be available soon! I am looking forward to it
