My family holiday to Cyprus

I have just returned from a lovely family holiday in Cyprus.

holiday 3

We stayed at the Thomson Brilliant apartments in Protaras which was perfect for us .

We don’t like all inclusive because we like to try out the local restaurants and these apartments were only a short stroll from the main strip but just far enough away to not be disturbed by any noise.

Protaras is very commercialised , the streets are lined with British themed pubs such as Fools and Horses but there are also lots of very nice and more upmarket restaurants from Italian, Mexican, Pan Asian, Indian, Greek and so many more.

We tried most of them but our favourite was Diva which was a Flambé steak restaurant and it was so good we all chose to go back there for our last night.

After dinner you can take your pick for entertainment because most of the bars had some sort of show from Elvis and Frankie Vali to more modern stars such as Robbie and Olly Murs. It was very cheesy but it was good fun and the kids liked it because all their friends they made were also there.

If you are looking for an authentic Cypriot holiday then don’t go to Protaras but if you enjoy good restaurants and a few drinks in a lively atmosphere then its worth paying a visit.

If I wasn’t going as a family I would prefer the Greek Islands but to find a hotel with kids clubs and children’s facilities you have to go all inclusive in Greece so for now we have to stick to the more established places like Protaras.

In the past they haven’t been brave enough to try the water sports so this year I bribed them with extra ice-creams and treats and the finally gave it a go. We went on the UFO which is like an inflatable armchair pulled along by a speedboat. They loved it and now want to try more.

We also went to the water park which was brilliant fun and even my youngest managed to go on a lot of the slides although she was still a little too small for some.

We even bumped into a friend while we there which was a bit embarrassing having piled on the pounds eating at all the nice restaurants !!

As always out holiday flew past so now I am starting to look for our next one. I am on a mission now to find a nice B&B hotel or self catering in Greece with a kids club so if anyone can recommend anywhere please let me know.
