What makes a good cruise deal ?

A lot of the special late deals offered by cruise line’s have some down sides to offset the massive reduction in price.  What makes a good cruise deal really depends on what you want from your cruise booking.

Some people like to book early to secure a cabin number of their choice, have better cancellation and changes terms, benefits such as drinks packages, parking or on board credit while others like to wait for a “last minute deal” and just go for the cheapest price possible often without being able to pick a cabin number or any extra benefits.

The situation generally seems to be that “You can’t have your cake and eat it”, meaning that you can pay a bit more money and have the extra benefits by booking early or get a reduced price by booking late but also forfeiting some extras.

Most passengers I speak to seem to know the situation on the above and make their minds up what is best for them.  I do get the odd occasion though where some people “Want to have their cake and eat it”.  An example of this is someone I spoke to recently about a sailing on the Crown Princess for 11 nights.  There was a late special offer at £599 per person which I am sure you agree is very good value at £54.45 per person per night.  The person I spoke to said that they were only interested in that deal if it had an all inclusive drinks package and free parking.  I explained that the price had been reduced by hundreds of pounds and that although there were no extras included, the offer was extremely good.  The person I was speaking to just said they weren’t interested at all and went.  I guess you can’t please everyone can you ?
