What if the worst should happen ?

Cruising is one of the safest ways to go and see the world.  On rare occasions in history the worst has happened, the most famous ship that springs to mind is of course the Titanic that sank after hitting an iceberg.  I found out from my grandfather that some members of my family had actually bought tickets for it but decided in the last minute not to go !

Another ship that sank was the Greek cruise ship Oceanos, this sank on 04th August 1991 and had 581 passengers and crew on board.  Unlike the Titanic fortunately everyone was rescued to safety.  With the improvements in communications and technology it is good to know that there are good statistics on survival of a worst case scenario on a cruise, which in itself is a very rare occasion indeed.
