Travelling to Israel unplanned

I had a situation develop at work recently that I had not dealt with before.

Some of my clients are booked onto the Thomson Celebration – Red Sea Magic sailing on the 3rd February, because of the problems that have recently been affecting Egypt, Thomson Cruises changed one of the destinations to Eilat in Isreal.

Now normally I wouldn’t have thought that this could be an issue, however it turns out that this could have caused disasterous concequences for my client.

My client does a lot of work in Libya and informed me that if he was to have Israeli stamps in his passport it would mean that he would lose his job !

Well I spoke with Thomson’s and did some checking about and it turns out that they already have this issue covered on page 200 of their new brochure.

If travelling to Israel, rather than your passport being stamped, you are provided with an extra piece of paper to show your visit, leaving your passport unaffected.

This made me wonder what other situations could arise similar this issue, to be honest the only other example I could think of was the recent Top Gear special that I watched where JC and the gang potentially had similar issues  🙂

I hope everything works out for my passengers and all goes to plan.  I hear news just in that the Egyptian President has just stood down, so let’s hope things get back to normal as soon as possible.
