Portsmouth open their new Cruise Terminal

Portsmouth have recently opened their doors on 01/04/2011 to cruise passengers from their new terminal which is designed to accomodate cruise and ferry passengers.

Portsmouth say that they are expecting a total of 34 cruise ships to be departing from now until the end of December this year.

Cruise lines that will sail from Portsmouth already include Voyages of Discovery, Silversea, Swan Hellenic and Fred Olsen.

It will be interesting to see how the operation gets on, especially with Southampton only being just down the road and them already having such a successful cruise terminal.

I often here from many people from the North of the UK that find Southampton quite a distance to travel for a UK sailing, I am surprised that there hasn’t been more cruises setup to cruise from the North as I am sure there would be quite a demand for them.

What do you think ?  Where would be a great major cruise terminal alternative to Southampton ?
