A Royal Caribbean Captain saves the day

I thought I would share a story with you this week that one of my good regular passengers told me after she had recently sailed on the Royal Caribbean Independence of the Seas.

She said that they were docked in Vigo, Spain and up on the deck where another couple were with their toddler.  The toddler had her favourite toy with her “Doggie”.  Unfortunately she dropped Doggie and Doggie managed to go over-board.  Everyone looked down and they could see Doggie bobbing up and down in the waves.  As expected this poor young girl was really upset that she has lost her favourite toy and there wasn’t really very much hope of being able to resolve the situation.

Well apparently the father went down to reception and explained what had happened and although they didn’t think anything could be done someone did get onto the radio to the bridge.  It turns out that the captain didn’t want things over-board and got a pilot boat out to come and fish Doggie out with a net and bring him back onto the ship.  Doggie was then cleaned and sanitised before being re-united with the little girl.

I thought I would share this story as I thought it was great the cruise line went above the call of duty and also had a nice happy ending.
