Look Out Fred, Here We Come.

It’s that time of year again when cruise.co.uk pack our bags and head off for our annual Christmas conference.

As a cruise company, where else would we hold this than on board a ship and this year we are sailing on Fred Olsen’s Boudicca for three nights from Liverpool to Dublin. As many of us are home-workers, we can live and work anywhere so for some Liverpool is close by, but for others like me, it is quite a journey to get there. I will be travelling by train tomorrow morning and will meet up with several of my colleagues for a pre-conference night in a hotel close to the cruise terminal. This is a lovely opportunity to see each other and I’m sure we will be raising a glass or two in keeping with the season.

I have cruised with Fred Olsen three times before but always on Balmoral so it will be good to see another ship in their fleet. Thursday night is 80’s night and we will all be in fancy dress. Last year was 70’s and there was an amazing array of outfits, so I’m sure this year will not disappoint.

Another tradition we have is wearing Christmas jumpers on board. Roll back a few years and these were not so easy to come by but now every shop seems to stock them and they always raise a smile from our fellow passengers. So, now I know what to pack for those days, I really need to start thinking about the other days and evenings! As usual, I have left packing until the last minute. I find travelling to hot climates much easier to plan than at home, with clothes and footwear needed for cold weather and rain as well as evening wear.

I am looking forward to seeing both Boudicca and Dublin decorated for Christmas. I have only been once before to Liverpool and Dublin and both just a day in each. At a well known high street travel agent where I worked for twenty years, we got a meal out in a local restaurant so thank you cruiseco once again for a 4 night party.

I will be off now until the 29th so I hope you all enjoy the festivities and I look forward to helping you plan your holidays in 2017.
