On 29th May, I flew to Edinburgh to join colleagues on Caribbean Princess on the last leg of her British Isles cruise.
The ship was docked in the stunning setting of South Queensferry Cruise Terminal looking magnificent in the Scottish sunshine under the Forth Bridge.
We crossed to the ship by tender and checked out our balcony cabin on deck 11.
Anyone who knows me is aware that despite having an extensive knowledge of world geography and having cruised many times, I still have absolutely no sense of direction on board so thank you Princess Cruises for making it easy for the likes of me to find where I am staying.
On the port or left hand side of the ship, the carpets have a red (port wine) border and on the starboard side do not so, as my cabin was on the starboard side, I knew that on exiting the lift, I headed to the blue carpet. Brilliant idea!
After a lovely lunch in the Horizon Court buffet, we were taken on a tour of the ship. I enjoyed a lovely family fortnight on Grand Princess 7 years ago and immediately felt at home as the ships are almost identical. We were able to see the children’s club rooms, the spa and the Sanctuary which is an adult only oasis on a busy ship that can be reserved on board at a supplement.
As we had joined the cruise mid-itinerary, we then had a muster drill. We did cause some alarm carrying our life jackets to the passengers who had completed theirs several days before and I did enjoy pointing out to a few that it is better to be safe than sorry hence I always carry mine!!
After a few welcome cocktails in Skywalkers night club, we dined in the Coral dining room which is one of the main dining venues and I am pleased to report that Princess has not compromised their standard of food over the years.
It was then back up to Skywalkers to dance the night away and look forward to another day on board.
