Are You A “Wow” or a “Help”?

So…like it or not we are here in December!

With masses of comments today on social media sites, you cannot escape the fact that we are now in the festive period. Having looked at numerous pictures this morning of beautifully adorned Christmas trees, excited offspring opening advent calendars, piles of shopping bags and even bigger piles of wrapped gifts posted by the “Wow” people, I conclude that I am now in the “Help” category.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually love Christmas. I love all the cheesy songs played everywhere, the carol concerts, the parties, getting family together and even the present shopping and wrapping. I love putting the decorations up, popping on a Christmas jumper, lighting the scented candles and sipping a Baileys whilst nibbling on a chocolate orange.

What I don’t like, is starting all of this prior to December so, on the 1st December when everyone else looks like they are all ready for the festivities with stunningly decorated homes, shopping all done and feet up watching a seasonal selection of films on TV, I am the one panicking that I have a billion things to do and only twenty four days to get it all done.

I admit, I bring all this on myself. I could shop earlier and I don’t really need to have cleaned EVERYTHING in my home before even contemplating putting a tree up.

At cruise.co.uk, we are lucky to have our annual company Christmas conference on board a ship and this year we will be on Fred Olsen’s Boudicca for 3 nights on 15th December. Whilst this is lovely, it means that realistically, I only have fourteen days to prepare and that also includes now packing and putting together an amazing fancy dress outfit to wear on board (that will have to be a whole new blog!)

So…basically, I need to calm down, take a deep breath and tackle those shops head on, transform my house into a winter wonderland and raise a glass to my fellow “Wow” people.

Of course, if you’d rather escape all of this, you could always book a cruise for the festive period.

Happy December everyone!
