Have you seen the new colours?

We make no apologies for being cruise geeks at cruise.co.uk.

We are passionate about our industry and all visit and sail on ships at every opportunity. We also get excited when we see other ships passing by us on our travels.

Whilst away last month on Marco Polo, I was delighted to look out of my cabin window and see the new look P&O’s Aurora glide past. Well actually, we glided and she was docked in Amsterdam.

Aurora is an old favourite with many cruisers and is the first in the fleet to be adorned with the new red, white and blue livery as part of a £32 million refit carried out by 1,200 contractors in 20 days in Hamburg just before Christmas. Along with the new external design, she received more than 3,000 new mattresses, 3 miles of new pipes and 28,000 square metres of new carpet.

Aurora was launched in 2000 but with her recent makeover is looking like new.

I am lucky to be going on Britannia on 8th March, just prior to her official naming ceremony and can’t wait to see her after all the anticipation. It will be interesting to see how the newest and largest addition compares to the rest of the fleet and it will be good to see them all gradually wear the new uniform.

What do you think of the new design? Have you sailed on Aurora since the refit? Are you booked on Britannia? I’d love to hear from you.
