P & O Mini Cruise.

How lucky was I this past weekend. I spent 3 night on board the Azura for a Taster/Mini Break. We boarded in Southampton with bleak black skies to cross the Channel to Bruges. The Venice of the North. The crossing was very calm and we never felt a thing, although we were only travelling at 7 knots. Our next day was spent at sea to chill and unwind so we had a lazy morning and did not leave our cabin till after mid day. The beautiful blue sky and blazing sun looked so refreshing   after the long wet winter so we wrapped up to brace the top decks. What a surprise that turned out to be it was so hot I thought I had slept a week and ended up in the Caribbean. Here we were drifting in the English Channel and some how the Captain had managed to find an amazing pocket of Summer sunshine. Guests were actually in swimwear in the swimming pools. Yes it was the 5th of April I could not believe it. Sheer Bliss. At dinner that evening there was an awful lot of burnt bodies around.

On arrival the next morning our little bubble had been burst and back to grey sky and drizzle. Bruges was very pretty and the weather did not spoil a thing a very pleasant few hours strolling around the pretty cobbled streets and canals.

Back on board the service, food and entertainment was excellent very good value for money and I would love to do another to just re charge my batteries after a very busy few months. I think this is a really good alternative to a hotel based weekend break. Just wish these short cruises were available more often.
