Liverpool revisited.

In an earlier December blog I talked about our Cruise.Co conference on board Fred Olsen’s Boudicca from Liverpool’s Prince Albert Dock. The dock was opened in 1846 and is listed as the birthplace of passenger cruise lines. Liverpool as a reputation as one of the most desirable ports of call in Europe with its position in the Irish Sea. The area is rich in heritage and I am sure you all remember last year when the tree Queens sailed up the Mersey together for the first time. The whole of the waterfront area is now a very swish venue with stylish shops, bars and restaurants and home to an enormous Arena and conference centre.

So my visit yesterday took me to the opposite end of the Albert Dock to Liverpool’s Echo Arena for a bit of fun and relaxation and to re live my very early teenage years. Yes you guessed it my teen idol was playing for one night only.

Now that was the closest I got to him this time but wow what an amazing show. He has certainly improved with age and is doing it gracefully in the manner we all associate with the man himself. He sang songs from the fifty years !!! he has been in show business some from every decade. I wonder why the 70’s got the loudest applause. At one point the crowd was singing louder than Donny. I dragged along my two closest friends although they were not kicking and screaming I may add. But they both had a memorable evening.concert

I would certainly visit Liverpool again, for this area alone, with Liverpool One was just across the road, a shopping haven with the Cavern Club and Cilla Monument a 10 minute stroll away. So if you are ever tempted to do a British Isles cruise this will be a top destination.

Only those that have known me years will believe how I can manage to get to talk about Donny Osmond within my cruise related blog.
I still love him as much, the man and yes he did sing Puppy Love.
