Cruise ships diverted away from New Zealand

This is peak season for the cruise industy in Australia and New Zealand.  However due to the deviststing earthquake the port of Lyttelton, where the ships dock has been badly damaged.  In fact the port is now described as ‘unlivable’ as telecommunications and water supplies are unavailable.

Celebrations in Sydney , Australia, due to the headline-grabbing rendezvous of Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 in Sydney Harbor have been overshadowed by the tragedy. Queen Mary 2 was scheduled to arrive in Christchurch, this Saturday.  It is reported that the QM2 will not be visiting the port.

With the unrest in Egypt and now the earthquake many cruise lines are having to re arrange their ports of call. Princess announced that Pacific Princess, Star Princess and Ocean Princess are recheduling their stops in Egypt.
