Busted on the Allure

Drugs are not necessarily a big problem on cruise lines. However there are random checks in some of the ‘hot’ ports around the world.

These ports are mainly in the Caribbean. It has been known that drug dogs have been let loose on the ships sniffing out the Illegal substances, even crew quarters get searched.

A passenger who was on Allure of the seas in the Caribbean was busted recently. The ship was chartered by the Atlantis events company who held the world biggest gay charter. The ship was in St Thomas and it is reported that a man was found in possession of a quantity of Extacy pills, methaphetamine and ketamine (which I thought was an animal tranquilizer)! Anyways he was also in possession of over $51,000 in cash a little bit too much for gratuities I think.

So port authorities are doing their part in the fight against drugs. Mind you the drug dealer was ‘ratted out’ by passengers on the ship! Good on them I say!

  1. That is interesting especially if drugs were being sold on the ship as I’m quite sure the organisers want to ensure they can charter the ship again.
In terms of the monies, best I know one is to declare any cash over $10,000 when crossing borders and that ship certainly crossed borders even on the high seas.
Detecting money laundering is all over now even to your local bank as when you transferred from a legit account in one country to another , you will still get a call of confirmation
