Oceania Cruises “Shipyard Delays New Ship”……

Oceania Cruises have had to delay the launch of their new ship the Riviera because of shipyard strikes in Genoa. There new ship the Riviera is being built at the Fincantieri shipyard but because of shipyard strikes it has been delayed for the second time in six months.
The launch was scheduled for the 24th April 2012 BUT now it has been to be pushed back to the 16th May2012.
As a result, Oceania have been forced to reschedule Riviera’s maiden voyage to May 16th and to cancel her 24th April and 6th May cruises.
All passengers affected will be contacted by their travel agents or by Oceania Cruises directly to discuss alternative cruise dates, the company said.
Guests will have the option of transferring their payments to another cruise or receiving a full refund. All guests will receive a future cruise credit, which ranges from $250 to $1,000 per guest depending on their category of accommodation.
Oceania president Kunal S. Kamlani said: “We sincerely regret any inconvenience that this may cause our guests. “We are working very closely with the shipyard to ensure Riviera is completed to meet Oceania’s high standards of quality and service.”
Fincantieri chief executive Giuseppe Bono added: “We know that sophisticated international travellers are anxious to welcome Riviera and we regret that labour strikes have caused this delay.

“All of us at Fincantieri are committed to producing a superior quality ship and we will deliver a truly magnificent vessel to Oceania Cruises without further delays. While we are deeply disappointed with the late delivery of Riviera, it is critical to us – as we know it is to your clients – that the shipyard fully and satisfactorily completes its work to ensure that she is every bit as spectacular as her sister ship, Marina.
