How Important Is Travel Insurance ?

Well over the last few days I have been checking on insurance for my big fella Looney my dog.

He has been insured since he was a pup, but now he is 10 years old it is has become so expensive. I do understand with him being the age he is and everything but my goodness to go from £16 a month to £38 a month is just crazy.
It has been hard work trying to find an adequate insurance policy at the right price that will cover him for all the essential things he needs. I have eventually sorted it out now with E&L Insurance and it was only £25 a month. One thing I’ve really had to look at is cover for medical fees, with him being the age he is, it was essential he had the correct cover.

Now working in the travel industry I speak to so many customers that say “oh I don’t need to buy travel insurance” OR “I can just buy a cheap insurance that will do”. Well to be honest cheap insurances are not always your answer and what if you fell ill abroad, it would cost you a fortune if you are not insured. A Serious illness abroad can see medical bills easily reach tens of thousands of pounds! Sadly, some people cannot take a cruise because of the death, injury or illness of a relative, business associate or travel companion & this could cost you the value of your holiday if you do not have adequate travel insurance. Most Cruise lines these days do also insist that their passengers have appropriate travel insurance before they can travel.
When taking out travel insurance you really need to look very closely on what they are offering, what the cover entails and the value of what you are covered for.

Below are some examples of  what  your cover should Include:

Cancellation, Curtailment, trip interruption, medical expenses and repatriation, personal accident, personal liability, baggage, baggage delay, replacement of passports, personal money , missed departures, holiday abandonment, legal expenses and catastrophe cover. Always make sure the policy has the correct cover to what you have paid for your cruise.

Don’t forget about things like sports and activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling, water-skiing, sometimes these maybe an additional cost.
One other thing, always tell your insurance company about any previous medical history it doesn’t matter how small you think it might be, if this information is not disclosed then your insurance could be invalidated.
It is not worth it at the end of the day, don’t get caught out !!!!!!
