Gyms At Sea….

How is everyone?
I hope you all had a brilliant Christmas and a very Happy New Year to my passengers old and new.
Mine was a busy one this year and having two weeks off made it even better. Like most of us I defiantly ate and drank way too much so I have decided that my new year’s resolution will be to get fit and eat healthy! I don’t know how long it this will last but I’m doing well so far. I started back at the gym in November and I’ve really been pushing myself hard doing an hour most evenings doing either body pump, toning, self-defence and boxing. Now all this healthy new regime has made me think which cruise liners have the best gyms at sea!
After doing a lot of research it looks like Royal Caribbean out do most of the other cruise liners; the bigger the ship the better facilities for fitness. Take a look at my results:
Allure and Oasis of the Seas

They have all the equipment that major sports clubs do: weight machines, free weights, stationary spin bikes, stair steppers, treadmills, sauna, whirlpool, steam room and thermal suites. All the latest classes, from Pilates to spinning to kick-boxing, for all levels. Classes include: Aerobics in Motion, Pathway to Yoga, Shape Up/Pump Up, Wheels in Motion, Total Body Conditioning, Wake Up/Shape Up, Vitality Stretch, Pathway to Pilates, Body Sculpt Boot Camp and Gravity. Plus a sweeping ocean view that extends for miles, so you can enjoy the view whilst your training hard!

Freedom, Liberty and Independence of the Seas

Each have 9,700-square-foot fitness centres. They have a state of the art cardio, circuit training machines, spinning cycles, weight training , a Pilates studio, a full sized boxing ring, heavy bags and padded punching gloves. All cardio machines have personal LED screens for entertainment whilst keeping fit. Classes they also offer include step aerobics, yoga, pilates, stretching, tai chi, boot camp and indoor cycling. Other equipment they have on board is Power-Plate, a device based on reflex technology. I’ve tried the Power Plate but wasn’t very good at it haha, apparently they are supposed to be really good, but you do need advice first before you try. think my personal trainer needs to help me through this one.

What’s your new year resolution ???
Do you also use the gym facilities on board a cruise ??
If so I would like to hear your coments on which ships you think have the best gyms at sea.
