Name Dropping!

This week has been all about Name Dropping in the Cruise World

Anyone who is a parent (or pet owner) can appreciate the huge responsibility and importance of choosing a name, it needs to be different but not ridiculous, memorable and unforgettable, distinguished and with meaning

Amongst some controversy Seabourn have released the names of their 2 new ships,  Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation which will applaud the current fleet in both vessel design and guest experience,” said Seabourn President Richard Meadows. “Both words, Encore and Ovation, pay tribute to the tremendous success and outstanding accomplishments our current ships have achieved. They are perfect names to celebrate Seabourn’s expanding fleet and will build on the success of Seabourn’s popular and highly acclaimed Odyssey-class ships

Nothing controversial in the names themselves however Royal Caribbean have only recently released the name of the newest ship in their Quantum class – Ovation of the Seas!  (is it just me that thinks this name is fare too close to OVULATION of the Seas??!!)

More news this week although this is only a rumour at this stage is that the Her Majesty The Queen is to be the Godmother the Britannia. P&O Britannia is one of the most anticipated new cruise ship of 2015 especially for the UK as the ship is being purpose-built for the British market so if the rumour is true HRH could not a more fitting Godmother

The Royals have always been linked with Cruise lines – not just of course being named after the Queens, Camilla is Godmother of Cunard Victoria  after naming it in 2012,  Princess Diana’s christening of the first Royal Princess ship in 1984 of course Kate Middleton is Godmother to Royal Princess so it is a rumour with some substance… watch this space!
