Drinkipoos or Binge Drinking?

The last couple of years has seen Royal Caribbean offer all inclusive ‘select’ drinks and gratuities package as part of promotional sales campaigns and early booking offers, Celebrity have seen success with their ‘123Go ‘ promotion including an option for all inclusive drinks and this year NCL introduced their own drink package, this all sounds great – no huge bar bill at the end of the cruise and the kids have a free soda package for the whole

Some people I speak to are not interested in the drinks and yet others would not book without it, it was interesting that when the Royal Caribbean drinks package offers ended the sales and bookings reduced so dramatically that the offers were brought back and sales picked up immediately

I try to have a rule of no Pina Coladas before midday and I enjoy a G&T or a glass of prosecco like everyone else but with the introduction of these basically ‘all you can drink’ packages will it mean waking up and heading to the bar as soon as it opens?

It always amazes me that no matter what time of day or night you happen to be waiting for a flight there will always be someone at the bar with a pint of lager even if its 6am, do you think this will be the attitude to those on board?

Unfortunately we Brits already have a reputation for bad behaviour abroad, I’m just not sure I would want to cruise with 3000 people all on a mission to get the most out of their free drinks

With Binge Drinking culture forever in the news will the all inclusive style of cruising lead to more drinking on board?

What effect do you think all inclusive will have on the future of cruising?

Would you like to see more all inclusive offers or less? I would love to hear your comments!
