From Knitting to Naturism!

Cruise passengers like to mix with like minded people with similar interests so as the cruise market has grown and the passenger dynamics have widened, there are now many themed cruises making suiting all age groups and interests making cruising even more attractive, I’m not talking the usual Gardening, playing Bridge and Classical music at Sea themes, themes have got a whole lot more 2014!

If Naturism is your thing you can cruise from the Caribbean to Alaska with Celebrity ‘setting sail on the newly “Solsticized” Celebrity Constellation… with more nude people than there are stars in the sky!’ The annual Big Nude Boat event attracts nearly 3,000 stark naked holidaymakers.
Knitting on the seas with AmaWaterways, introducing a new cruise for lovers of the handicraft for those “embracing the do-it-yourself, handmade trend”. Passengers will get to learn new techniques from forums on fashion trends and classes hosted by experts including Barry Klein, “one of the top 10 most influential men in the world of knitting”.
Maybe this could be mixed up and have Naked Knitting at sea??
Maybe Murder Mystery is more your interest, Fred Olsen have a Poison, Murder & Mystery Cruise – Solve the Mystery on board and win a World Cruise for two!
P&O Cruises presents Strictly Come Dancing Professional dancers, judges and guests from the BBC One series ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ will be joining us across several cruises during 2014 and 2015 for Strictly Come Dancing themed cruises, bringing all the glamour of the ballroom to your days on board.
Forty heavy metal bands and 2,000 fans will gather on board Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas this year for the ‘700000 Tons of Metal’ cruise or how about On board with Elvis combining a three-night stay at Heartbreak Hotel in Memphis with a Caribbean cruise?
Celebrity Cruises is hosting a Star Trek-themed sailing, featuring actors and production staff who have appeared in Star Trek and other sci-fi films and shows.
Gothic fest is the “first and original gothic cruise” setting sail on September 13 this year, featuring live music, a masquerade ball, and pre- and post-cruise parties
My personal favourite is The Chocolate Connoissuers Cruise exploring the art of chocolate making via private demonstrations and tastings, chocolate-themed shore excursions, educational seminars on chocolate, and a chocolate mini-buffet. The seven-night cruise sets sail in April, travelling from Vilshofen to Budapest along the Danube River. Details: amawaterways.com
