The Gadget Show, SMART Technology and Bionic Barmen??

It sounds like a Futuristic movie, once again Royal Caribbean have WOWed with more innovative features for the Quantum Class ships but is it really what everyone wants?

The SMART Technology looks amazing and the younger cruise generation will welcome it with open arms – including the first At Sea Smart Check in process

”An Anthem of the Seas holiday begins at home by allowing you to take care of all necessary documentation on line before you leave, including uploading your photo and receiving digital boarding passes. No check-in counter, no forms to complete and no queues your luggage will be tagged with RFID technology, allowing you to keep track of it on your smart phone, as it makes its way to your stateroom.”

This all sounds great but what about the ‘senior’ cruises that are not so confident with Techno Gadgetry, and like a more traditional check in process, some of these guests struggle with their cruise personalisers so how would they feel about automated check in?

Automation is not always the way forward, I like the embarkation process, the buzz of excitement as you wait to go through to check in, I like to stand in the queue and chat to the people around and check out the crazy Sailaway Outfits in the embarkation hall!

What about the big friendly smile and Meet and Greet from a friendly check in girl with shiny red lipstick and a name badge ready to answer any questions and to point you in the right direction with a wave and a Bon Voyage??
