Most people like a little tipple or two when on holiday. But do you think its worth the price of a drinks package? 

There is much debate as to whether to have it or not some of my customer say they prefer to know they are not going to be hit with a hefty bill at the end and others would limit themselves. Some customer want that deal with a drinks package included and then there’s others that would never benefit by having one. 

Quite a lot of cruise company’s offer a drinks package of some description, whether it be a wine package or the ultimate drinks packages that companies such as Princess and Royal Caribbean offer, which includes drinks up to a certain cost and also includes specialty coffees and teas, sodas bottles of water and often gelato. 

Cruise companies often offer a free drinks package if you book a certain cabin type, others offer it on all cabin types. Does it end up free well this all depends on what cruise company you book with. We have booked a Celebrity cruise this year and you needed to book an outside or above to get the drinks package included, then this is only the classic drinks package. We may be tempted to upgrade whilst on board as who doesn’t want to have the full choice of cocktails and spirits rather than only a limited few… 

The majority of premium drinks packages are usually around the 50-60 usd per day + gratuities. For all that sounds as if you would never spend that much, a cocktail by the pool or that Martini before dinner could be nearly 10 usd per drink, not counting the espresso or cappuccino you would like. Depending on the usd rate this obviously can make a difference to the cost your paying. If you can’t make your mind up you could purchase on board at the beginning of your cruise this is usually something you can do in your first day or two.
