Oceania Marina part 2

So we explored the Restaurants last time , I thought I would give you an insight to the rest of the ship.

In February of 2011, Oceania Cruises unveiled the cruise ship Marina at a gala ceremony in Miami. The elegant new ship represented a long list of firsts: the first ship that the line had built completely from scratch, the first cruise ship suites furnished entirely with the Ralph Lauren Home Collection and the first ship to house such an extensive art collection. Oceania Cruises founders Frank Del Rio and Bob Binder give new meaning to the term “hands-on.” When building the line’s two new ships, Marina and Riviera, they were directly involved in every step of the process, from the initial design to the selection of furnishings to perhaps the grandest undertaking of them all: amassing the entire art collection for both ships.

The entrance , Atrium. Stunning. Straight away you can see the art work that adorns the ship.  As you climb the grand staircase the Marano Glass shines through and this continues up every stair case. Must have cost a fortune.

The next thing I noticed was the decor. Very boutique colours and feel to the whole ship. (big ship, but warmth through out). We went to the horizon lounge to have a meet and greet, this is used as a show lounge and it was beautiful.  Then we looked at the spa and Gym facilities, unfortunately there were people using the very well equipt gym, but managed to see the new machines and get Harry to try one out , well almost ! apparently all the range.

The spa had the sauna and Jacuzzi and steam room. In between treatment have a lounge on the hot beds to relax. There is also a private area away from it all to sunbath outside with full waiter service (this is all free to concierge and above) $25 per day to other cabins.

There is a hair and nail saloon , with lots of different products to buy for your every need, also treatment available.

But to get back to the Art work. They have on board a resident artist, this changes per cruise. On this one it is Frank Hyden and his James project can be seen everywhere on the ship. (remember the Head at the middle of the grand staircase that is his.)

They also have a purpose built kitchen to teach cookery classes, depending on the area you are in , you can get off the ship try something on shore , then go buy the ingredients and come back and the chief will teach you how to cook it. Fantastic Idea,  were as the Art classes were free there is a charge for the cookery School.

The bar areas are very glitzy, the bar stools are covered in Swartscroff crystals. These look amazing with the subdued lights. There is a Piano in one of the lounges and there is a theatre too. Lots of space in there and very well set out.

The furnishings in the Owners suites are by Ralph Lauren himself and there is even original Picasso.

There is an Art collection on board both ships and the co founders did there research well to enhance the ship. I hope you enjoyed the quick look at Marina as much as I did. Have you been on board let me know your thoughts on the Art work would love to know , oh and nearly forgot the beds in the cabins are made to order,  check this out : www.oceaniabedcollection.com  starts from $1490. but they do come with your name embroidered on the mattress………
