My top tip for single passengers.

Britannia

Over the last few years P&O have shown a softening towards single passengers with the introduction of more single cabins across their fleet. This started with the launch of Azura in June 2009 and the first dedicated single cabins in the fleet followed by changes being made to existing twin cabins to provide sole occupancy rooms on board Ventura, Aurora and Arcadia. The new P&O flagship  Britannia also has single cabins and offers the first single balcony cabins in the P&O fleet.

This is all great news for single passengers, in theory the prices are better as you are not booking a room for two and as these cabins are in close proximity to each other it is easier to meet other solo cruisers, but the numbers of single cabins are still very small and passengers are encouraged to book early.

This month though P&O have launched their 2016/2017 sailings and seem to have made an error with their single pricing. On the majority of sailings it is more expensive for a single passenger to book a single cabin than to pay the single supplement and occupy a twin cabin. I am not sure why this is the case, it doesn’t make sense to me to be selling a cabin for two to just one person this early in the process.

I did though think that it was worth pointing this out to my single customers, don’t automatically assume that the single cabin is the best priced cabin for you and compare both.
