Switzerland Dining

I must admit I was surprised with the dining arrangements on the Switzerland II, not for breakfast but at Lunch & Dinner,  I will come to it shortly.  Breakfast was buffet style and they did have a good range of pastries, various breads, rolls of all shapes, colours and sizes which was really good to see, hot & cold breakfast to choose from with a good selection of Juices and Cereals too. You also had the option to completley choose a “Tailor Made” breakfast if you dont want to use the buffet. I tried both options with the Tailor Made it was simple- just tell the waiter what you fancy and in no time it was made especailly for you. I was very happy with either helping myself from the buffet or ordering with our waiter. Breakfast is normally served from 07.00 until 10.00am.

We decided as it was such a good offer to pre  book the drinks package on the ship which was fantastic it included our favourite German wine’s  ( Rhine cruise) and all beers and as many hot & cold soft drinks as we could manage all day and night, Even if your not a huge drinker I would really recommend adding the drinks package if you can, we paid £12.00 per person per day, which is a bargain i’m sure you will agree –   here is a sample of one of our days  menu’s on board.

  • APPETIZER. Marinated farmersalad with cucumber, tomatoes and goat cheese.
  • SOUP. Mustard Soup- Dutch mustard soup with rye bread croutons.

  • DESSERT. Cream Caramel, Cheese plate with crackers, nuts & grapes.
  • COFFEE, DECAF COFFEE OR TEA.

With as much wine, beer, soft drinks as you want.

As I said earlier I was very surprised regaring the dining arrangements on River Cruises I have been on it has been left for you to choose where and with whom you sit with & this is always a good popular idea, its an excellent way of getting to know all your fellow cruisers. On our ship we were told who to sit with- but as it worked out we had a fantastic table and made our 1st  trip with the company even better.

Considering THE RIVER CRUISE LINE is not one of the most expensive River Cruise companies we couldnt fault the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the ship, the ports of call etc, well worth a look at this company- they are not 5* but then again you dont pay 5* prices.
