Drinking Guinness & Doing Dublin

Day 2 of our visit to Ireland on the Boudicca and today its Dublin.  We’ve been here before but still love to visit, its so big you really need more than a day in this fabulous city & its clear to see why so many come here for long weekends and stag/hen parties. We started off with a walk around the city and the shops, street entertainers were keeping sightseers happy even on a cold day.

We headed for the  Temple Bar area & it was full of lively pubs, art studios and many vintage cloth and record shops,  and then it was  onto Molly Malone statue before finishing around the College.

Another great way of getting around is if you use one of the many  big Red Hop On Hop Off buses- cost was Euro 17 each and covers 3 different routes, the pick ups are everywhere so is very easy and convenient to use.

Then it was our final attraction Guinness Storehouse, we’ve wanted to visit for a long time and this year we decided to go, in the heart of the legendry St James Gate Brewery. It has been the production site and has been home to the Guinness Brewery since 1759. When Arthur Guinness signed a lease for 9,000 years. The storehouse was once the fermentation plant of the brewery and is now re- modelled into the visitor centre and is dedicated to the history of Guinness. You can learn how to pour your very own pint of Guinness and enjoy 360 degree panoramic views of Dublin from the Gravity Bar – well worth seeing it was too.

It cost us Euro 16.00 each and is open every day, times will vary throughout the year though, and we were told if you book online you will get a 10% discount. ( wish I had known before)

End of the day in Dublin and we had a brilliant time as usual – Tomorrow its time to head up North and visit Belfast.
