Cu Chi Tunnels

Another excursion we did was  to visit the Cu Chi Tunnels I had  been  looking forward to that one most I think.

we left our hotel around 7.30am as the journey is quite long about a 2 1/2 hour drive
it was rush hour too, the amount of traffic at that time of the morning is unbelievable. The kids school day starts really early for one thing and the amount of scooters around
at that time is amazing, The kids cling on for dear life to their parent, a funny sight we saw was  a child who had fell asleep on the back of one of the scooters whilst the parent was driving through the streets.
(havent a clue how he managed to stay on)
the noice and volume was incredble, bikes were coming from all directions.

MORNING TRAFFIC IN HO CHI MINH CITY

We arrived at National Highway 22 late morning- by this time it was 95 degrees, so you need lots of water with you a comfortable pair of shoes, mosquito spray etc. It was a brilliant tour with a very experienced guide lots of equipment has been kept from the US Forces, American hellicoptors, ammunition and bomb carcases all on view for visitors to see. We also had the chance to see the torture chambers – not very appealing to see  but essential.

When we were on the ship I remember a gentleman saying to me ” DONT LET ANYONE PUT YOU OFF GOING DOWN THE TUNNELS” flipping heck i though what was I letting myself in for?  The were very small & narrow  and you had to bend down and crawl on your hands and knees.

The Underground tunnels were amazing the network was used by the Viet Cong guerillas and they served communication and supply routes to the hospital. A unique project an underground system of tunnels deeply located in the ground bed with lots of floors, several deviated alleys like cobwebs over 200km long with places of boarding, accommodation, meeting and fighting.

After our tour it was along  drive to Southern Vietnam to Tay Ninh where we visited the Holy Temple and to witness the noon service this temple was home to the faith of Cao Dai and it draws on the diverse range of beliefs including
Buddhism, Confucianism and Christianity, it was spectacular to witness this was another tour which I enjoyed and was honoured  to see.

Let me know if you have any questions – does this trip appeal to you?
