Cosy Lady Anne Or Is She?

I’ve tried and tested a good range of the River Cruise ships over the last few years. From the economical  level to the Boutique level and I have to say love them all. As you would expect there is a vast difference between River Cruise Lines the same as there are between Ocean Cruise Lines.

So I thought I would write this week about the more economical end of the market – some clients will try as never been on a River Cruises before and “don’t know what to expect” so fair enough.

Next year marks the 15th anniversary of The River Cruise Lines partnership with LADY ANNE. She was built as a barge in 1903! and converted to a passenger ship in 1963, I found when I went on her -atmospheric- and certainly the oldest on the Rivers.

Cabins on Passenger Deck – Is the lowest deck and if you have walking difficulties, this is not a good deck to be on there is no lift down to this deck and the steps are very steep. Middle deck and the Upper deck are better suited to you if you have walking problems. One of the good things about this little ship is she has single cabins – a rare thing, and they also have some triple cabins but to point out you will have an upper berth. There are stair lifts to the Sun Deck and Main Deck.

Walking around the ship I noticed lots of dark woods, Brass and she felt quite masculine compared to newer ships out there at the moment, the lounge bar had lots of nice comfy seats.

Food -Very geared to the British tastes I would say with big hearty breakfasts, with a four course evening meal in the main restaurant which was nicely refurbished in 2013. Vegetarian and special diets are catered for.

The cruise director and manager were English, all of the crew spoke good English and made us feel very welcome.

All in all a nice little ship as long as you know she is not a new ship, you wont find swim up bars or Chandeliers or Chintz but then again you wont be paying those sort of prices either – worth a try? why not for your first taster cruise?
