Drones, Moans, & Cancellations

I hope you all had a fantastic Christmas and are excited about all those new years resolutions you have set your mind to.

As we wound down for the year and took reflection on an extremely busy 2018 I like many of you had a little holiday in the French Alps which I wrote about 2 weeks ago.

Many of our customers as you can imagine headed off for warmer climates before that dreaded beast from the East returns with a vengeance.

In fact, Christmas and New year is one of the busiest times of year in the travel sector.

Unless you have been living under a rock you will no doubt of heard about the huge disruptions caused by the Gatwick Drone incident just before Christmas.

My own sisters family travel was hugely disrupted due to the alleged drone sightings.

We had our fair share of customers who were unable to travel on time and its very sad that it effected so many people.

I read about one chap who was surprising his brother in Ghana for his wedding he hadn’t seen him in 5 years yet the careless drone situation meant he was going to miss their special day.

I learned the device used to intercept the device was worth millions and was developed in Israel by surveillance company’s

It’s such a shame that as we move into a more sophisticated world individuals, nations and companies find more and more advanced ways to cause as much disturbance to peoples hard earned holidays.

After all we have enough disruptions with volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, earthquakes, hurricanes and typhoons. Not to mention pilot strikes or annual leave in aviation ( no airlines named)

What are your thoughts?
Were your holiday plans effected?

If so has it made you concerned about the future of aviation and have you made sure you have the best insurance in place by booking your holiday with a fully ABTA and Atol bonded company.
