The Biggest Cruise Ship LAunch in History

It’s A Girl!! Shouted Royal Caribbean from the roof tops when Harmony of the Seas was officially handed over to Royal Caribbean last Thursday celebrating the completion of the Largest Cruise Ship in the world. Here are the facts on the birth of their new baby.

LENGTH – 14,526 INCHES

MAIDEN VOYAGE – 29MAY2016

After a mammoth 2 year build finally Royal CAribbean welcomes it’s 25 Cruise Ship Harmony of the Seas. The world’s largest, most innovative and energy efficient ship, this baby is equipped with the Ultimate Abyss, the tallest slide at sea, The Perfect storm which is a trio of waterslides. Bionic Bar with robotic bartenders as on their Quantum Class of ship, 20 dining venues and most importantly for many VOOM, the fastest internet at sea.

Harmony will eclipse the size of her sisters by more than 1,700 tons and hold nearly 100 more passengers. This ship holds over a staggering 8000 people including passengers and crew.

Harmony will have additional features to her sister ships including exclusive new areas for Suite guests. this will be a suite lounge, a private suites only restaurant Coastal Kitchen and a full service Suite Sun Zone sun deck. New restaurants will include Wonderland and Sabor.

The anticipation for her arrival in Southampton tomorrow is huge and if her departure at Saint Nazaire is anything to go by where a staggering 50,000 people filed onto  beaches and climbed into their boats  came out to wave her off,  then it certainly will be one hell of a media frenzy over the next few days.

So is Harmony for you? Not everyone prefers the bigger ships but for me personally I love Oasis Class. After spending a week on Allure of the Seas last year with my teenage children I have to say it really was one of the best holidays we have had as a family. I will be embarking on HArmony on Friday for 2 nights and I am sure she will bring back some fantastic memories. My son said last year when we were on Allure that all this ship needs is a waterslide, well Harmony certainly came up trumps on that one. I have added a video of our holiday on Allure from last year, we did the same itinerary that Harmony will be doing this year. So if you haven’t yet sailed on Oasis Class then this will give you a little taster of what we experienced. great memories for all!
