Long Lost Families Reunited on Royal

Thanks to Royal Caribbean 40,000 crew members across their fleet will receive their own windows tablet, a huge breakthrough in helping reconnect members of the crew with their families. Royal Caribbean described their staff as ‘Real Hero’s of our Fleet’ and I couldn’t agree more.

With up to 50 nationalities working on board a cruise ship , each and everyone of them steps on board for their first day of work with their own story to tell, some happy and some not so, and its only when we sit down and listen to their stories as to why they are on board in the first place  do we fully appreciate the heartbreak some crew have behind their smile , they miss their loved ones and are onboard because of their families.

I heard a story about a lady from Lima, Peru, 34 years old who has to leave her 7 year old daughter with her grandmother.  She was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to leave home (something girls weren’t supposed to do) to earn some better money to be able to give her family a better standard of living. She only sees them for 2 months each year and unfortunately her family cant fly out to see her onboard as they cant get  visas.

If you watched ‘The Cruise Ship’ recently you could also appreciate a new member of the crew missing her mum and calling her every night from her cabin once her shift at the hairdressers had finished.  It was her first time away from home.

Thanks to Royal Caribbean, every member of the crew onboard will now have the opportunity be re united with their families but the great thing about windows and a tablet is that you have Skype, making for a happier crew being able to see the faces of loved ones for the first time in many months .

The new tablets are extremely thin and very light, and will fit in nicely with the very active lifestyle of its employees. Of course the tablet will help with so many other things to , it will give each crew member the freedom to the outside world on many levels.

Congratulations Royal Caribbean, a great job!!
