It’s all over, let normality commence!

For 30 days and 30 nights the Euros have dominated our lives and if that wasn’t enough to disrupt our day to day living,  14 days and 14 nights of Tennis was also thrown in the mix, I have to say what an emotional rollercoaster, culminating in the final of three huge sporting events where I have to say, football aside, I am very proud to be British . What a day it was and I am sure 10th July 2016 will not be forgotten .

On that note though arn’t you glad it’s all over , I have to be honest with you and say most certainly I am. Not a lover of either football or tennis, although to be fair I looked forward to every England game in the Euros until D Day, ( disappointment day) the inevitable happened to much embarrassment when Iceland knocked us out of the Euros, my normal life can now resume. I am sure there of 1000’s of men and women who if honest feel the same. TV channels back to normal, yes Coronation Street now firmly back in it’s regular time slot,  the fridge filled with food rather than beer and wine and the coal for the Barbecue back in the garage ready for next year as if we are honest with ourselves, it wasn’t only our sporting events that finished, looking at today’s weather it seems our summer has too.

I appreciate not everyone will feel the same, many of you will be left with a an empty feeling of disappointment that no longer can you monopolise the Tv and have control of the remote.. No longer can you have an excuse to go to the supermarket and fill your trolley with liquid refreshment of the alcoholic sort, 2000 calorie pizzas with crisps and dips, or that you have an excuse to go to the pub 7 nights a week and order in takeaways like they are going out of fashion. No I am afraid, it’s back to a calorie controlled diet, possibly the gym to work off the calories consumed, full days at work with no excuse to take half a day off and worst of all no more remote control.

If you fall into the above category then on the upside just think,  it is the school holidays where  your children are home from school for a whole six weeks of fun and wanting , so you really won’t have time at all to miss the excitement of the 4 weeks of sporting TV that once was. Unless you are an Olympics fan of course, all is not lost as in three weeks time the Olympics will be upon us.

Now the Olympics is a different matter as I feel there is some Olympic sport for everyone, so the fact that again our TV’s will be dominated for 16 days will be easier to bear. So watch out as the opening ceremony starts on the 5th August so will look forward to the crazy ideas Rio have put together to make this ceremony spectacular and no doubt memorable.
