Liverpool is back on the cruising map

Liverpool will be welcoming the New year in for 2015 with the celebrations that the Port of Liverpool is now firmly back in the world of cruising as a successful, historic and vibrant port of call .

Next year will see the addition of 54 new ships, many of these new vessels and cruise liners making there debut along the famous Liverpool waterways bringing with them more than 80,000 visitors to my home city .
Among the large cruise liners making their debut on the Mersey in 2015 are P&O Britannia, Celebrity Silhouette and the Royal Princess.

Smaller ships will include the Le Boreal and Le Soleal from Ponant and Marina and Nautica from the Oceania Cruise Line.

The highlight of the year will be the two events to commemorate Cunard Cruise Lines 175th anniversary.

Cunard’s first ever ship, Britannia, set sail 175 years ago and headed to America. Since then, the cruise line has become renowned for its luxury cruising experiences and has built up a reputable fan base among frequent passengers and newcomers alike……. we even had our cruise.co.uk annual conference on board QM2 last weekend.

Set the dates……..
On May 25th 2015 the Cunard Fleet will arrive into Liverpool and make maritime history when all three queens are together in the port .
On July 4th 2015 , Cunard’s flagship Queen Mary Two will return to Liverpool to mark Britannia’s departure exactly 175 years earlier.

A series of events will also be held across the city to celebrate the excitement of the cruise industry and how Liverpool has contributed to popularising cruise travel across the globe.

The dates are in my diary and as a proud Liverpudlian I will be going home to be part of these celebrations.

No wonder Liverpool has for the second year running has been been named by the industry as the UK Port of Call.

Come along and see for yourselves that there’s far more two football teams to bring you to Liverpool, you’ll find friendly welcoming people who are proud of there city.

Will you be joining in the celebrations at Liverpool by attending these events?
If so I may see you in the crowds…….
