Top award for Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection……….

This bit of news has thrilled me as river cruising is fast becoming a passion of mine. River cruising offers something completely different for clients who have cruised the seven seas for years, you see things from a whole new perpective, and the value for money cannot be denied in these harsh economic times.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has triumphed as “Best Cruise Line” at the Guardian and Observer Reader Travel Awards 2011, in a category that included the best of both the ocean and river cruise industry.
Uniworld was credited for making waves in a category in which it is a relative newcomer.  Having launched in the UK just over a year ago, the brand fought off competition from long established and recognised cruise lines. The awards, which took place in Tenerife, were voted for by the readers of The Guardian, the Observer and guardian.co.uk.   Each category is won by the best percentage score from all the voters, with Uniworld scoring a flawless 100% from all of its voters.
This is the second accolade bestowed on Uniworld from the UK consumer in as many weeks, coming hot off the heels of an award for ‘Best Dining’ from the readers of Cruise International magazine. Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection is the world’s only river cruise line to have been acknowledged by Zagat Survey® for “Top Dining”.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection offers itineraries across Europe, Egypt, Russia and China and launches into Vietnam and Cambodia, along the Mekong River, in January 2012.  Each ship offers guests luxury accommodation with sumptuous interiors, exceptional service, fine dining and unique facilities such as conservatory-style balconies and river cruising’s first 20-seater cinema, which feature on the S.S. Antoinette, Uniworld’s flagship vessel launched in March this year.
This is a fresh new product, offering the highest levels of accomodation, service and cuisine to its clients. If I can just be devils advocate, and I feel I am in a position to do so as I get so much feedback from regular clients of mine, maybe there is a lesson here to the long established mainstream cruise lines, some of whom seem to be resting on their laurels somewhat. I spent my formative working years as a Trainee Manager at Sainsburys and all we ever heard was how we were market leaders who could not be touched by the competition, They rested on their laurels for a few years, and where are they now compared to Tesco?? Take heed big boys, the little guys are taking the initiative!
