Sir Terry Wogan – not that old cherry on my blog again!

Don’t you just miss him in the mornings? Honestly, it’s a wonder I even bother to get out of bed at all these days. Chris Evans just doesn’t have the same appeal.
Anyway, the good news is, Sir Terry Wogan is still alive and kicking and was recently asked to present the awards at the ‘Oldie of the Year’ Awards held at Simpsons in the Strand, London recently.

The awards ceremony which was sponsored by Swan Hellenic was packed with noteable ‘oldies’ including Tony Backburn, Nicholas Parsons, Andrew Sachs, Jilly Cooper and Ian Hislop – I bet Paul Merton will get plenty of mileage out of that!
I think the most highly publicised award went to Prince Philip who although he was unable to attend the ceremony sent his thanks and said he was thrilled that people could even remember him!

During the awards Swan Hellenics representatives got as many of the attending personalities as they could to sign an image of Minerva which you can now win by visiting their website.
Other awards were presented to Jean Marsh, formerly of Upstairs Downstairs and more recently seen in the brilliant Downton Abbey, and June Spencer who is the only original cast member of The Archers. The Radio Four production is celebrating its 60th birthday this year too.
It has to be said that if Ian Hislop is being invited these days then I can’t be far behind him. You never know, if I keep blogging about the awards every year I might get an invite in the not too distant future. ‘Oldest cruise consultant in living memory’ or something along those lines, anything would do really. Just 10 mins with the Ole Irish Fella would do me, then the ‘present Lady Wogan’ can take home whats left of him!
