No More Cougars Cruises on Carnival Line

A few weeks ago I reported that the Carnival Elation had hosted a Cougars themed cruise. Cougars being the more mature lady who enjoys the attention and company of a much younger man (Cubs).
Despite being described as ‘highly successful’, with a group of more than 300 Cougars and Cubs taking part,  Carnival have announced that they have no plans to host another event with this theme.
A spokesperson for Carnival Cruise Lines said that although there were ‘no particular issues’ on board they have no wish to host further events of this type.

This isn’t the first time that Carnival have hosted a themed cruise. Previous events have been a ‘pink’ cruise and there were rumors in the industry of them hosting a ‘swingers’ cruise on one of their ships too.

Personally I feel we should all live and let live, and if people want to take part in these events then thats fine.  What I do have an issue with is when you have a ship carrying around  2,500 passengers, probably family groups of mixed ages with children as well, who have paid a considerable amount of money for their holiday, is it right to have these types of themed groups on board with them?  Maybe this is why Carnival have decided not to go ahead with another event of this type, I don’t know.  What I do know is that if I took my 3 kids on a cruise, only to discover when we boarded that there was a group like this on board I wouldn’t be best pleased.
It has been suggested that in future maybe Royal Caribbean would be happy to host group events like this so look out for them when you’re boarding the Independence this summer in Southampton!
I am interested what you think about this, so please leave me a message with your thoughts.
