My trip on Celebrity Infinity

I have recently returned from a 6 night cruise on board the Celebrity Infinity.  This was the first time I had sailed with Celebrity although I had been on board the Celebrity Equinox for an overnight stay in Southampton.  We flew out to Bilbao and arrived late on the evening.  As we were boarding half way through the cruise our check in process was very quick and easy.

We were allocated an inside cabin on deck 3 which was in a good position, not too far from reception and the central lifts.  I have stopped in an inside cabin before but not for as long and to be honest it wasn’t bad at all.  It was a really good size and plenty of storage.  I must admit I do miss being able to see the weather first thing in the morning but we used to flick the TV to the channel showing the front of the ship so could always see if the sun was shining before we got ready in the morning.

Every morning we ate in the buffet restaurant which was called Oceanview cafe.  This suited me as I could go up and down as I pleased and there was a wide selection of food.  We also tended to use the buffet at lunch again there were plenty of choices.  The design of the food area wasn’t great and I did struggle to reach the back to get to the food.  They also had a great Ice Cream station where you could get Ice Cream and cookies daily.  Some days we opted for a burger out by the pool.  The grill area served burgers, hot dogs and chips.  This was a nice change and we could still enjoy the sunshine.

Evening meals were served in the Trellis Restaurant.  The restaurant is split over two levels and we were on the lower level.  We were on 2nd dining which was 8.45pm.  There was always a wide choice of food each evening and the once night when I did struggle to find anything I asked if I could have chips with my meal and this wasn’t a problem at all.  I am quite a fussy eater but I always managed to find something.  The only negative I would say with the dining was how late the 2nd sitting is.  By the time we left the restaurant it was at least 10.15pm and the late show started at 10.45pm.  It was too much to eat that late I found.

One evening we were booked into Qsine which is one of the speciality restaurants on board the ship.  We ate at 6pm on this night which was quite nice.  Qsine is very different to your standard speciality restaurants and it certainly was a fun evening.  The menu is on an I Pad.  Guests get to pick out what they want to try and it is mainly Tapas style.  As we were in a group they decided to bring out a selection of foods for us to try.  I did struggle to eat here as there was a lot of fish that came out but everyone said hoe good the food was.  The steak was amazing and the puddings were very good.  There were cup cakes which you could decorate yourself and lots of different donuts.  I am sure that if I ate in Qsine with my husband I would love it as I would pick off the menu what I would like.  The atmosphere in here was really good and it was a fun evening.  You do pay a service charge to eat here which is about $45 depending when you go.  The other restaurants on the ship include SS United States, Bistro on 5 and Blu.

The evening entertainment on board the ship was very good.  In the main Theatre there were a variety of acts.  The first show we saw was a lady who had been on TV programme The Voice,  Toni Warne performed very well indeed and everyone seemed to enjoy it.  Other performances on there were a Comedian which we never went to.  There was also a man on a piano which was a comedy act,  the dance group on the ship did a big dancing singing show and there was also a variety show on the last night.  The entertainment was to a very good standard.  There were also house bands performing at other areas around the ship.

My next blog will be more about the ship and the places we visited.
