Celebrity Infinity Part 2

I was really looking forward to my 6 nights on the Celebrity Infinity.  We boarded the ship in Bilbao late on the evening so we didn’t get to see Bilbao as we sailed at lunchtime the next day.  As part of the group we were in we had lots of activities to take part in around the ship.  The first full day we had we had a morning tour of the ship.  We walked around all of the public areas and this really helped in getting to know our way around the ship.  After the tour we had the rest of the day to explore the ship ourselves.  The weather was so much better than I was expecting so we made our way up onto the pool deck for a few hours.  I thought the lay out of the pool area was great as the sunbeds were so spread out.  You can go on other cruise ships and you can’t move the bed at all.  If you didn’t want to be in the main pool area there was also the solarium which is a covered pool area and has a spa cafe.  This is where you go if you want a healthy snack.

The next day we were in Vigo.  We weren’t arriving to Vigo until early afternoon so we had the morning to ourselves before we had a very exciting trip to the heli pad at the front of the ship.  We made our way to the heli pad as the ship was coming into port.  This was great as we got a good view from the front of the ship and we enjoyed a few cocktails while mingling with the staff.  This was the first time I had done anything like this and it was great.  We then had the afternoon in Vigo to do our own thing so we decided to get off the ship and have a wonder.  Vigo was so busy as the Oasis of the Seas was in port.  This was also very exciting as we made our way over to the ship to get some close up photos.  My sister had been working on the Oasis of the Seas for 6 months and she had recently got off the ship so I made sure I sent her a photo while I was there.

The next day was Porto.  I had never been to Porto and was looking forward to our arranged shore excursion for the afternoon.  In the morning we had training and a quiz to take part in before we headed off on our trip.  The weather had been bad in the morning with rain but by the time we set off to the coach it was a lovely sunny day again.  Our excursion in Porto took us to see some of the sights before we stopped at Ferreira where we had a tour showing us how they made Port and then we got to taste the Port at the end.  This was very interesting and I did but a couple of bottles to bring home with me.

The next 2 days were at sea as we headed back to Harwich.  We had a mixture of training and free time over these days.  The one sea day there was a questions and answers session with the captain and staff members.  This was up in the Constellation lounge.  This was certainly interesting as some people found it a good time for them to have a moan about certain things on the ship.  There really wasn’t anything to moan about at all and I thought the captain handled this very well.  We were also lucky enough to take a Bridge tour on the second sea day.  I was really looking forward to this.  I have been on the Bridge before but on smaller ships.  This was so nice we got to have a few drinks up on the Bridge and speak to the staff about how things work.

I really enjoyed my time on the Celebrity Infinity and the staff really go out of their way to make sure the passengers are happy.  Every staff member we walked past spoke to us and I though the cruise director Alejandro was great.  I feel I really got to know the Celebrity Infinity over the 6 days and I wouldn’t hesitate in returning on the ship in the future.
