It’s The ” Is Biggest the Best ” Debate Again!

Is biggest always the best?

What do you think of the current trend by cruise lines of ordering bigger and bigger ships? How do you think they look? A block of flats maybe?

msc big

MSC Cruises have recently announced that they are building 2 new Meraviglia Plus class ships. These ships will have 2444 cabins and 8000 passengers and crew. Where will everybody sit? Forget lazing on a sun lounger watching the world go by unless you are prepared to set your alarm for 2.00am!

According to those in the know,  these ships are able to port anywhere in the world, might be a bit of a tight squeeze though.

I am not against these large ships, but how are they going to fill them?

Silly prices I would imagine, which is great, but all the while the cruise industry are ” cheapening ” their product.  Cruising should be special, a chance to explore different countries whilst enjoying wonderful food and wines, stunning shows, receiving excellent service. It shouldn’t all be about price.

I do like some of the new features they have announced though,  the first fine art museum at sea, which will feature original artworks, there will also be an impressive sky screen that measures 95 by 6 metres, this will be able to show all manner of events, there is also  the collobaration with Cirque Du Soleil – brilliant. But will it be standing room only or will they have to perform 5 times a night?

Let me have your thoughts? Big or small – let me know.
