When Will Cruise Lines Show More Faith In Liverpool?

I seem to be having more and more conversations recently with my legendary Northern customers about the cruise terminal over in Liverpool, and why there aren’t more ships sailing from there?

Quite honestly it’s got to the point where I can’t really think of many more excuses, I mean the terminal there was completed ages ago, and is extremely well put together.

The transport links are good around the area due to the popularity of the city in general as a tourist attraction thanks to the likes of the Beatles and the Liver Building. I really can’t understand why some of the bigger cruise lines won’t show a bit of faith in Liverpool as a genuine reliable British port.

Fred Olsen of course have been sailing from Liverpool for years, and done very well with the port. Now the likes of Cruise & Maritime Voyages also sail from there for large portions of the year and again seem to be having a lot of success.

But really what I want to see, as do a lot of my customers I might add, is some of the big ships sailing from Liverpool’s shores.

The terminal there is equipped to take a much higher number of guests than it does so far. So wouldn’t it be brilliant to see something of Royal Caribbean, or P&O sailing one of their larger ships from there?

I guess the cruise lines would initially worry about filling the ships, but if you think about it, Liverpool, in terms of geographical location is much more central for the UK as a whole than the likes of Southampton. It would be also hugely beneficial for the rest of the British Isles, it’s right across the water from Ireland and Northen Ireland, couple of hours drive from the Scottish border, and basically right on top of Wales, as well as hugely straight forward from almost anywhere in England. I mean it’s right at the M62 – what could be easier!

I’m sure that you would see numbers of guests increase from many regions in the UK if the cruise lines were to show a bit more faith in Liverpool. I for one would be first to book being a fan of the bigger ship generally.

Thanks for reading my blog today and I welcome your thoughts, opinions and comments.

As always, until next time………..
