Real Men Smoke Cigars

Much to the displeasure of my Fiancee, my latest interest having probably watched a few too many films about the American Mafia, is cigar smoking. Seen as a disgusting habit by some, but a gentleman’s pastime by others…….mainly men……who smoke cigars…….

Anyway, I’m not going to get into the health ramifications that smoking causes, we all know, and frankly we are all old enough to make our own decisions  about what is good and bad for our health. Fatty food and alcohol both sit alongside smoking on the devils table, but we have all been invited by one or more of those ‘terrible things’ before now……….. and besides, this is a blog from a cruiser, indulging in the bad stuff is what cruising is all about right?

I turn 29 this year and as I’ve got older my hobbies have changed. Partly down to work, partly down to lifestyle situation. Also if i’m brutally honest, partly down to laziness too!

Now I do not consider myself old by any means, far from it. In fact last night I got excited when I saw an advert for ‘The Lego Movie’ for heavens sake!  But the fact is that as the years tick by you look for other ways to spend your time and money when you are not lining the taxmans pockets.

Put simply, cigar smoking is an easy hobby, I personally find it interesting, and relaxing. The real gentlemen out there will agree with me when I say the true image of relaxation is sitting in a big, comfortable, high-backed Chesterfield style armchair, in front of a blazing open fire, with an absurdly expensive single malt in one paw, and a finely crafted Cuban cigar in the other. Not forgetting the faint echo of ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ in the back ground, and most importantly with your sock-only covered feet balancing on  a spongy leather wrapped rest.

Doing it for you? I’m there already.

You can’t always have all these elements, but my reason for this blog, and there may be more in the future, is to give you a sneaky peak at some of the cigar lounges aboard some of the best ships at sea. After all, it is cruising that has turned me to the dark side! The comfort they offer, combined with a seclusion that a cigar smoker needs, makes these lounges my particular favourite to hang out at on board ships.

Some of my personal favourites are shown below:

Norwegian Gem:

Queen Elizabeth:

Liberty of the Seas:

Of course there are loads more on other ships, but I feel that these lounges give that cosy feeling that you need to enjoy a smooth smoke and fine cognac.

More blogs on the wonderful world of cigars to come soon!

Don’t forget in the not to distant future there are 2 x Brand New Ships being released for sale,  the Anthem of the Seas  and of course the P&O Britannia, so I will be looking to see how they fair on my Cigar Bar Quality Radar (Wow that rhymes!).

Please feel free to share my blog! You can also get in touch over the phone, via Facebook or on Google Plus via this page!

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to hearing from you!
