Dublin Here We Come!

In a couple of days I get to experience a new cruise destination, Dublin.

Yes it’s that time of year where Cruise.co.uk hold the annual Christmas Conference aboard a ship for a few nights, whilst also taking in a port of call along the way.

So this year we will be sailing aboard Fred Olsen’s Boudicca – a ship I sailed on several years ago – on a 3 night mini cruise from Liverpool.

As many of my customers, readers and colleagues here know, I am based in the North West of England, in the fine city of Manchester, so a departure out of Liverpool is fantastic for me. Certainly beats the long drive to Southampton!

I must admit my memory of the Boudicca is sketchy as it was a long time ago, and I’ve since seen a large number of ships, so that blending into one another thing has now happened to me! But I remember thoroughly enjoying it for all the right reasons.

Fred Olsen in my mind for overall food and service, take some beating. Personal & Great Quality.

Yes the ship is a little older now, and is likely showing her age, but it’s not the reason you go aboard their ships, so it’s of little concern to me.

So what’s the program of events?

Well, the top brass here like to give us a thorough run down of the years events, a good catch up with everyone, how we are doing as a company, and most importantly, plans for the future.

We also get the chance to see many of our colleagues, which working from home, is not an everyday event! So this is great fun.

But I think the thing I’m most looking forward to is seeing Dublin. Granted it’ll be a flying trip, but I’m hoping to squeeze in a visit to the Temple Bar, and of course the Guinness Storehouse. Wouldn’t be right to go to Dublin and not have a pint of the black stuff would it now!

Dublin is very much the up and coming destination for 2018, as recently Celebrity Cruises announced they will be sailing from there, so from a familiarization point of view, it’ll be actually quite interesting and educational to take a look at the docks and the transport links – boring I know but useful for my job!

It’s a great end to the year for me and I can’t wait!

I’ll blog again before the year is out, but if you don’t catch it, or I don’t get the chance to speak to you in person, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I’ll be right here come January 1st for all your cruising needs!!

Thanks for reading, and as always, until next time………
