Countdown to Britannia!

The internet is awash with excitement surrounding the imminent arrival of P&O’s latest offering, Britannia, which will be arriving into Southampton this week!

I for one literally cannot wait, being a big fan a P&O myself.

The new ship will feature a totally unique design, unlike anything P&O have ever built before, designed by Richmond International and born from years of maritime experience, she should prove to be the most successful P&O ship of all time. I am very confident the British public will be more than receptive to her, particularly with the huge amount of celebrity packed dining influences such as James Martin and Mary Berry.

But the biggest news about Britannia is that on Sunday night she will host one of the most amazing people ever to have graced the cruise industry………..me.

Yes that’s right I will be driving down from the capital of football, Manchester, to spend the afternoon with some of my colleagues taking in the experience whilst capturing some of the first pictures of the ship for next weeks blog which I’m sure you will all be itching to see!

P&O have got a lot riding on the success of Britannia, they have come in for some critiscm recently and this is the chance to bring that reputation back.

I think there is always the temptation to use monies elsewhere when a new ship is being built, a few corners get cut and the spare cash piled into the new ship. So lets hope P&O can really show what they can do.

I am brimming with excitement, it’s my first ship visit of 2015 and what a way to start it!

2014 will take some beating for me in terms of quality ships, having seen QM2 and Prinsendam last yea, both of which were excellent, while also finding time to take a few nights aboard Fred Olsens Balmoral which was also excellent. I also managed to see MSC Opera last year and had a cracking little weekend on her so hopefully this year will be just as good if not better! Lots going on for 2015!

Anyway that’s my quick blog for today, next weeks will be full of pictures and (hopefully) brilliant reports about Britannia so watch this space!

Will she really Rule The Waves? We shall see!
