Things are looking up for Thomson!

Thomson cruises aren’t really known in the cruise industry for being glitzy, large, entertaining ships. More along the lines of casual , average mid-small size vessels with nothing ‘exciting’about them, until now!

On June 9th 2016 Thomson will launch there newest ship to the fleet, The Thomson Discovery. She is definitely going to be at the top of the league in the fleet of Thomson ships and its a very exciting time for Thomson cruises as well as the loyal Thomson passengers.

Currently the Thomson Discovery is sailing with Royal Caribbean as the Splendour of the Seas, so many of you may have already sailed on her. She will transfer to the Thomson fleet next year and have a re branding and make over with the prominent Thomson Logo and a new ship colour to match in with the Thomson Brand.

The ship will hold 1,830 passengers which is the largest ship in the fleet ,and will be based from Palma during the Summer and Barbados during the winter.

Currently the ships in the fleet don’t really offer much choice on balcony’s, with some Thomson ships having no balcony options. In this current day balcony’s are hugely popular and wanted in the world of cruising so it is great news that the Discovery will have 40% balcony’s,.

Thomson will be adding 2 new dining venues called the Snack shack , which will be based around the pool and will feature brightly coloured iconic British beach huts.

The second restaurant is Gallery 47, and will serve contemporary Italian cuisine.

I think this new ship is a step in the right direction for Thomson and will attract new customers to the brand. Thomson has always been known as a great brand for new cruises to sample, but with the new addition to the fleet i think we will see seasoned cruisers asking to sail on this exciting new Thomson ship! I for one would definitely love to sail onboard, especially on one of those beautiful Caribbean itinerary’s form Barbados!

Are you booked on?
