My 30th Birthday!

Following on from my lats post, I was lucky enough to spend my 30th Birthday in the gran city of New York , and what a day did we have planned!

We headed of early morning for breakfast in a  nearby French restaurant for Eggs Benedict. I have to say, it is hard to get a nice sit down waiter service breakfast in New York, most places are grab and go!

We then headed of on the subway down to the south of Manhattan where we first visited the 9/11 memorial site. It is such a sad feeling , being at the site where such a tragic incident happened and so many people lost there life in such a awful way. The area is very peaceful and the waterfall memorials where both of the towers originally stood is a very beautiful way for families to visit the area with the names written across the sides of the memorial.

We had a stroll across the Brooklyn bridge, with a Starbucks in hand in true New Yorker style.

Then onto the most exciting part of the day, we headed to the heliport! We checked in , were given our debrief and watched the safety video and were then escorted out to the helicopter with 2 other couples. I was lucky enough to be sat in the front too! This has to be one of the best experiences I have ever had, the views are amazing and this is a real must if you can book onto a helicopter tour of New York. You fly around the statue of liberty and then up the Hudson river and the views of the city are just breathtaking and something I will never forget!

After a few afternoon cocktails we headed out for our evening meal. I had booked into a restaurant called one if by land two if by sea in Greenwich village with a 6 course tasting menu. I have learnt 1 thing, do not eat all day as I couldn’t manage it all! The restaurant was beautiful, very romantic with chandeliers and a piano. The food was exquisite, truly amazing and we chose to have the wine pairing to accompany each course also. If you are in New York and fancy a treat this is the perfect restaurant for a birthday or anniversary!

I couldn’t have wished for a better way to spend my birthday milestone!
