No Turkey next year!!! Not even at Christmas.

TurkeyI have some major news. Cunard and P&o have cancelled all calls to Turkey for the whole of 2017. They will be replacing this with Greece and Albania.

The news comes after a Turbulent year for Turkey with an attempted Military coup and many terrorist attacks happening this year, Many cruise liners had already pulled out of Istanbul following the attacks. Now with the advice of the foreign office, they have decided to pull out of Turkey all together with many other liners ready to follow suit.

This is such a shame as Turkey is such a lovely country with so much to offer everyone. I always remember going to Turkey as my first holiday with my wife. The weather was great, the people are so friendly and if you want to buy anything over there it is very cheap. There is so much History there too. It is a great place to do a stop on a cruise. With cruise liners pulling this destination and travel firms deciding to promote other destinations this will be awful for the Turkish economy that relies so heavily on tourism. For me the timing of this happening is quite strange as I cant see that things have made a dramatic change since last year. I wonder why it has taken so long.

For me personally I wouldn’t want to go to Turkey or the surrounding areas at the moment. It is hard to know where is safe to go though. I would be interested to hear everyone’s thoughts on this. Are you disappointed by this announcement or are you please that you get to go somewhere a bit different. Not only for the security side of it. I would also like to hear if you would still travel to Turkey regardless and from anyone who has been to Turkey before and has any feedback about this at all.
