P&O are going to make me a star…

Or maybe not, we will see.

If you read my blog last week (P&O do Gogglebox) I was heading down to Southampton last Friday to participate in a promo video for P&O Cruises.

My colleague Gina and I had a blast, after meeting at Waterloo early on Friday we headed down by train to Southampton, not really too sure of what to expect. I am a fan of the popular Channel 4 series Gogglebox anyway, so knew obviously it would involve us sitting and chatting about what we was watching on a screen.

We both decided to dress more smartly than probably required but we decided to base ourselves on Steph of Gogglebox rather than go in PJ’s or onesies! Being from Kent and all we didn’t want to let the county down.

After arriving at the beautiful Grand Harbour Hotel, we was greeted by the P&O team and given a quick brief of what to expect. We made our way to one of the hotels suites that had a separate lounge area and was given a introduction of the team and told to sit, relax and act as naturally as possible. They helped us along by offering a glass (and more) of Rose wine to help get us started.

Not quite the set up I had expected if I am honest, we was looking at a small laptop screen in front of us with hardly any sound and a large camera and sound boom in the room that you had to try and ignore. It was at first, very daunting but after a few sips of Rose (on an empty stomach) the chat started to flow.

It helps that I have known my colleague Gina for many years having previously worked together in Spain, and thankfully we do both love a chat and the sound of our own voices!! The guys from the production team was great, they let us get on with it and gave us great feed back. Who knows I could have a new career in the making yet…

P&O Googlebox 2

Unfortunately, we do not get to see the finished edit until this coming Sunday when we are on the launch of the P&O Britannia, one of the reasons we was asked to do the promo video in the first place. So I am unsure if it will be flattering or not. And the premiere will be in front of several thousand other people!

So, I will either have my ball point pen at the ready to sign the hundreds of autographs or I will be running to nearest bar with the standard celebrity dark sunglasses and baseball hat to avoid recognition and to drown my sorrows and try and hide from my embarrassment..

I’ll let you know how it goes next week…

Dawn
