Love on the high seas

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with a rather lovely gentleman and booking his next cruise from Southampton to Sydney on the Queen Victoria as part of her world cruise in January 2016.

The gentleman in question was booking a cabin for himself and his lady, whom he met the previous year on the same cruise.

Last year he met his new love after setting sail from Southampton, however, she was due to disembark and finish her Journey in Florida where she was visiting friends before she was meant to fly back to the UK. As a joke, he suggested that it was only a couple of weeks and the ship would be in San Francisco after cruising through the Panama Canal and maybe she could rejoin him there? Not expecting this to happen, imagine his delight when at San Francisco Port there she stood waiting and ready to board to join him all the way to Australia.

As a true romantic, I loved this story and was intrigued further when he wished for me to just book this as a cruise only. I asked the question, what will you do once in Sydney? He replied that he has friends that he met previously on a Cunard Cruise that live not far from Sydney, so now he always goes and spends some time with them before heading off for his next adventure.

His new love has a sister that lives in Brisbane, so whilst he shall be catching up with his friends, she will spend some time with her sister and then they will meet up before heading on to Hong Kong. Very handy also that last year she booked last minute to join him from San Francisco to Sydney that she at least had her sister to visit too.

The next adventure is they will then travel from Australia onto the Far East to catch up with other life long friends he has met through travelling where they enjoy a Rugby Tournament, before then heading back to the UK.

I loved listening to his story of how they found love again on board and how they now wish to cruise together again on this yearly voyage to mark their one year anniversary together. I just goes to prove that even in the latter years of your life, there is always a reason to get up and travel. Be it for friends, family or even love, there are always everlasting memories and new friends to make.
