How do you feel about onboard tips?!

I came across a little problem the other day with Celebrity cruises. I had a family of 6 wanting to book a cruise for August with 2nd dining. Now at the time of booking both 1st & 2nd dining were unavailable so the customers only option was to take celebrity select dining which they really didn’t want. These customer also didn’t want to pre pay their tips like many customers why would you want to pat tips for a service you have not yet received? It also states in the terms and conditions ” tips may be adjusted at your discression”

So if this is the case you have no choice but to take the select dining as it is the only option available however to get select dining you MUST pre pay your tips which are optional!!

I have in the past had customers refuse to book a cruise for this reason. Luckily with the case I am talking about celebrity cruises were very helpful and emailed the ship who advised the customers could have 2nd sitting which they wanted.

How do you feel about pre paying tips? Is it easier? saves hassle when onboard. Maybe you prefer to tip as you go? Find you receive better service?
